Changes at home, 2020 season.

Our house, as you should know if you have read the previous posts of this blog, is dated to the 50s. We have been gradually reforming it to make it comfortable, respecting at all times its classic essence. We have adapted it to the modern times, with top-quality finishes, security windows, high quality appliances, furniture in very good condition, to make spending time in Villa Bella Estança a real pleasure in every corner . For our family, investing in these changes is great, because we are the ones who enjoy it the most, but every reform and improvement is ideal, too, for you, so that when you come home, you will always find it impeccable, to make everything work and be the most comfortable during the days you will enjoy it.

In 2006 we made an integral renovation, adapting even the exterior structure, closing two porches, one to gain work space and make it the main entrance to the house and the other to convert -in a large, comfortable and spacious kitchen where you can prepare the best meal. We also refurbished the upstairs toilets, put parquet, changed doors, blinds and windows, renovated all the furniture and restructured the rooms. Since then, as you may have guessed, we’ve been working on tweaking every detail, but it’s been this summer when we’ve made a big push, especially with the garden. In this post we show you some of the changes of this 2020. Are you ready? Let’s get started!

The part of the garden behind the house has always been less crowded for us. We enjoyed the garden more in the front, where we have the pool, the lawn, the hammocks and the table, which is why we took less care of the back area. We did a total renovation this summer.

The first big change was to remove the metal shed where we kept tools, tiles and other materials that we did not use on a daily basis. We took the opportunity to clean it and we were able to remove it. This has made the back area look much bigger.

As you can see, this is not the only change in the area. We also moved the place bikes.

Now, you will find them hanging from the construction shed, covered and protected from the rain, without getting dirty, with easier access, so you can use them as many times as you want, both to store -as to grab them.

Where before there were bikes, now you will find firewood. Also covered and protected, cut and ready to light both the barbecue and the fireplace.

This summer we also invested in changing the wall that separates our garden from the neighbors. What was there was the original wall, full of plants, unsafe, low, and in a somewhat precarious state. We have completely renovated it, and thanks to that the garden looks even more beautiful.

We also replaced the outdoor furniture, changing the wooden chairs and table, which aged with temperature, was damaged, by plastic furniture, made specifically to be outside all year round.

We’ve also lit up the garden table area to make the summer nights the most beautiful of the year.

In addition to these changes, which have been exclusive to this summer, and which we hope will last a long time, we regularly and constantly renew the plants, take care of the lawn, and put flowers according to the time of year, so that, come when you come, you will find our house in the best of conditions.
