The beginning of the story of Villa Bella Estança
We release our Blog explaining a little more about our history, about the history of Villa Bella Estança, our house.
First of all I am going to introduce myself, so that you know a little better why all this. I am Alba, a 28 year old girl. My life is combined between living in Barcelona and Castelldefels, and it has always been that way.
Since I was born, the Bella Estança house has been part of my life. At that time, in the year 1992, it was the home of my father’s oldest uncles. I was only lucky enough to meet her, Aunt Joana, my grandfather Pau’s sister. Uncle Vicenç died before I came to the world.
It was his summer home. Just 20 minutes from Barcelona, they thought that Castelldefels was the ideal place to buy land and build the house they had always dreamed of, next to the sea. They hesitated between four house options, and finally decided on the structure that currently exists. Below you can find the photos of the other three options.
It is dated in the 50s, built in what is now known as the Pineda de Castelldefels Playa neighborhood. What happens is that at that time, the area was a pine forest,with some unpaved road that reached the beach as a street. In what is now 14 Bis Street, there was only one other house apart from ours. Little by little, the area became better known. The comfortable, large beach with calm waters and easy to go with both children and elderly people, became popular, and that is how the neighboring houses were built.
When Aunt Joana, who never had children, got older, she decided to leave the house as an inheritance to my parents, Jaume and Amparo, for them it was the best gift, and on the rebound, also for my brother, Guillem, and for me. In this house we have memories from a very young age. The first bike rides were here, the first touches of the ball, the first soccer games, the first choreographies with songs of the summer there in 1998, the first theater plays created by us, birthdays, the festivities of San Juan, Christmas with the family, Twelfth Night and the dining room, the next morning, full of gifts, Sunday afternoons watching a movie, summer storms, the most epic Champions League nights, barbecues and “calçotades”, the pleasant summer nights and hot August mornings. Many of the best moments of our life have been in the house of Castelldefels, in Bella Estança.
Villa Bella Estança has been changing over the years, adapting to the times, improving what we wanted and making this house have all the comforts, yes, always respecting its characteristic style, and above all, its essence, the one that Aunt Joana and Uncle Vicenç decided to give it.
